Do I need a referral?

No! Arizona is a direct access state, so you can schedule an appointment with a licensed physical therapist without a physician's referral. As a cash-based practice, getting started is simple - just book your appointment and we can begin without waiting for insurance authorizations or referrals.

Do I have to have an internal pelvic exam?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. While an internal check can provide helpful information, we only proceed if you feel comfortable and if it's truly beneficial for your personalized treatment plan. Internal exams are never required. Your comfort always comes first and you can decline any time. Treatment can still be effective without one.

Can I bring my baby/kids to my sessions?

Absolutely! I offer in-home care precisely so you don’t have to worry about childcare. Babies are always welcome, and we can work around nursing or napping schedules as needed. Fitness classes are also baby and kid friendly!

Do you accept insurance?

Accepted Answer

No, Empower Motherhood is an out-of-network, cash based practice. The cash-based model allows longer, one on one appointments and care that is not limited by insurance restrictions or visit caps. If your insurance plan includes out-of-network physical therapy benefits, a superbill  (a detailed receipt or invoice) can be provided for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Coverage varies, so you are encouraged to contact your insurance to learn more about your benefits. HSA and FSA funds can typically be used to pay for physical therapy services as well.

Do you serve outside of Southern Tucson, Sahuarita and Green Valley?

What if I am pregnant and told not to exercise?

Accepted Answer

You are in the right place. First, ask your doctor about working with pelvic physical therapy. I highly recommend YOU advocate for physical therapy services. Once you safely complete physical therapy, your doctor may clear you for exercise and you can begin fitness classes with me safely. These classes are specifically programmed to be safe and supportive during pregnancy. I provide modifications tailored to your specific trimester and energy levels to keep you feel strong and prepared.

Can I sign up for a fitness claass without doing physical therapy?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! Classes are open to all moms. You do not need to be a physical therapy client to participate. Although, if you have pelvic symptoms or concerns, it is highly recommended to do pelvic physical therapy before participating in a class!
